ABOUT US

Pursuit of Justice was founded by civil rights & criminal defense attorney Erin L. BrinkmanErin has been fighting to pursue justice for the incarcerated for more than a decade at organizations like the California Innocence Project and the American Civil Liberties Union.

Our organization’s objective is to bring affordable legal services and representation to incarcerated individuals who would otherwise have no access to an attorney.

There are currently thousands of people locked up in California’s prison system by unjust policies like the Three Strikes law and substantial sentencing enhancements that can add years — or even decades — to nonviolent offenses.

Our legal team is well-versed in new laws such as Prop 57 and AB 2942, which offer sentencing reductions and the possibility of early release to thousands of eligible inmates. We can help you file the correct petition to win the relief that you deserve.

LEGAL SERVICES

While our main focus is on post-conviction law and winning reduced sentences for our clients, we also have many additional areas of practice﹣including civil rights law, class actions, and employment and labor litigation. Below are some of our most popular services.

APPEALS

An attorney will review your trial documents to search for improper statements or court errors, or to help you describe your innocence on some or all charges.

RESENTENCING

We’ll prepare a petition for your release or reduced sentencing under recent laws like Prop 57, SB 1437, SB 1393, AB 2942, AB 1812, and based on judicial decisions like In Re Edwards.

HABEAS CORPUS

Our expert legal team is experienced in both California State and Federal Petitions for Writ of Habeas Corpus, so we can help argue your case against unlawful detention.
